There is always talk in marketing of what the next big thing is… It started in the late 1990’s with SEO, then in 2005 it was Social Media, in 2012 along came Content Marketing, and while these are still important topics, and necessary for your marketing to be successful, what’s next?
Savvy marketers are constantly consuming, creating, and measuring their efforts, but in the back of their minds, the Best-in-Class are always thinking, what’s next? How can I get my brand out there faster, better, cheaper and ahead of everyone else?
While I have my own thoughts on “what’s next,” I want to hear from you — what do you think?
A few topics and trends I’ve seen covered in marketing conversations include:
- Media Buying: Is there going to be a big shift in how media is purchased?
- Omni-Channel Experience: Is there going to be a transition in how marketers interact with consumers via a much more omni-channel approach — more integrated experiences throughout how they connect – mobile, TV, radio, online, etc.?
- Marketing Teams Reformatted: Is there going to be a shift in how marketing teams are defined – meaning the roles, the skills needed, the personas investigated, the jobs hired for?
- New Marketing Technology: With the influx of marketing automation, is there room for more tech to streamline or revolutionize the marketing experience?
